Mr. Koehler’s divergent education, training, and professional experience form the basis for his expertise in investigating a wide range of civil, structural, and mining related failures. Mr. Koehler’s experience includes the investigation of over 600 property losses as related to the effects of improper construction and design, weight of ice and snow, soil movement, sub-zero temperatures, hail, fire, water, impact, and wind. In addition, Mr. Koehler has extensive experience investigating failures in plumbing and piping systems, natural and engineered flooring and related heating systems, roofing materials, and building envelope components such as exterior cladding, waterproofing, and windows & doors.

Mr. Koehler’s professional experience includes six years in production-oriented engineering, twelve years in research and consulting, and eight years in civil/structural engineering forensics. Mr. Koehler’s understanding of construction is accentuated by six years of hands-on work as a carpenter and construction manager. Recent career highlights include performing a pre-sale structural/building envelope due-diligence of a $110M commercial property in Denver, completion of a $600K modification of an existing reservoir and construction of a new pump station for domestic irrigation at a 750-home Colorado community, and restoration of a 130-year-old historic log church in southwestern Montana. In 2011, Mr. Koehler will begin teaching a series of continuing education courses to insurance and legal professionals with the sponsorship and support of a prominent Denver law firm. This CE series will underscore Mr. Koehler’s fourteen journal/conference publications and numerous professional presentations to insurance, legal, and academic interests.
