Thayne R. Larsen, M.S.E.E., C.F.E.I

Associate Electrical Engineer
Emphasis: Electrical Engineering, Fires, and Explosions

With a master’s degree in electrical engineering and a strong background in residential and industrial electrical systems, electromechanical systems, and root cause analysis, Mr. Larsen is an expert in several areas of forensic investigation and inspection

  • Electrical fault analysis
  • Electromechanical fault analysis
  • Electrical injury investigation
  • Fire and explosion investigation
  • Electrical system inspection
  • Construction defect investigation
  • System root cause analysis

Mr. Larsen is an experienced electrical engineer with a strong background in manufacturing plant maintenance as a mechanic and electrical technician. As an electrical technician, his primary focus was fault analysis and repair of industrial manufacturing equipment; installation, repair and maintenance of
proprietary automated manufacturing equipment; installation, repair and maintenance of other manufacturing equipment; and facilities maintenance. His past projects include industrial power distribution systems, installation of new industrial plant equipment, upgrades for existing equipment, fault analysis, and repair recommendations. As an electrical engineer, Mr. Larsen has been responsible for all elements of various electrical and electromechanical projects from conception through implementation. He also has experience in root cause analysis, analysis of electrical accidents, and electrical fires. This blend of hands-on electrical technician experience combined with his engineering
expertise gives Mr. Larsen a unique skill set conducive to origin and cause analysis of electrical faults, fires, and injuries. Mr. Larsen is also experienced in electrical system inspections, including electromechanical systems, and electrical construction defect investigations.

Mr. Larsen obtained a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Utah. He is a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (C.F.E.I.). He spent a number of years working as a maintenance mechanic and electrical technician, as well as an electrical engineer and project manager, and is now employed as an associate electrical engineer with Palmer Engineering and Forensics.
